Baked Cabbage Burgers

This easy and delicious recipe will be a crowd pleaser!

Ingredients:

For the Cabbage Burgers:

  • 3 cups shredded green cabbage

  • ½ teaspoon sea salt

  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

  • ½ teaspoon paprika

  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 egg, beaten

  • ¼ cup Parmesan cheese (or nutritional yeast for dairy-free)

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For the Burger Patties:

  • 1 lb ground beef (or turkey/chicken)

  • ½ teaspoon sea salt

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika

  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 1 clove garlic, minced

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Cabbage Circles

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • In a bowl, mix shredded cabbage with salt, garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, egg, Parmesan, and olive oil.

  • Divide mixture into 4-6 mounds on the baking sheet. Use your hands to shape them into circles with a slight indentation in the center.

  • Bake for 12-15 minutes until the edges turn golden and slightly crisp.

Step 2: Make the Burger Patties

  • In a bowl, mix ground meat with salt, pepper, paprika, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, onion, and garlic.

  • Form into 4-6 small patties that will fit inside the cabbage nests.

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sear patties for 2-3 minutes per side, then transfer to the baking sheet.

Step 3: Assemble & Bake

  • Place each seared patty on top of each cabbage circle.

  • Bake for 10-12 more minutes, or until patties are fully cooked (160°F/71°C for beef, 165°F/74°C for poultry).

Serving Suggestions:

Top with melted cheese in the last 5 minutes of baking.

Add a fried egg on top for extra protein.

Drizzle with garlic aioli, avocado cream or mayo, or chipotle mayo.

Serve with a side of roasted vegetables or a fresh salad.

Servings: 4-6 burgers

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 20-25 minutes
