Emotions - 30 Days of Wellness

Good Morning! Happy and Blessed Monday/Week! Today is our final day of the wellness challenge for March. And how fitting that we end this month discussing emotions. Because Friday, of last week I added a short e-book on where emotions are stored in the body to my shop.

My hope in sharing all that I did this month is to help you safely navigate your own inner journey healing and to understand how vitally important it is to renew your mind and destroy every lie you believe about your circumstances, who you are and your purpose this side of heaven.

March has challenged me in ways I didn't expect, and God certainly knew they were coming my way. Despite it all. He has a good plan, and I am simply focusing on not resisting it, or walking away from it. You know trying to find a path around, over, under, or nowhere near the challenge. Come on admit it, I'm not the only one who sometimes just doesn't want another challenge - especially after surviving the hardest year (2024) since my divorce.

BUT GOD! My two favorite words and have often brought me out of despair or feeling defeated.

Now let's move onto emotions.

Emotions and feelings are not the same thing. Emotions are real-time data sparked by sensations in the body. They are considered the automatic, unconscious body reactions to stimuli. Feelings, on the other hand, originate in the neocortical region of the brain and are reactions to the emotional stimulus. They are conscious, subjective, and mental interpretations we make of those physical changes. Feelings can be more biased, altered by mental misconceptions.

The response is usually subjective and determined by whatever it is that triggers (or stimulates) the emotion, also called the stimuli. For instance, receiving good news can cause you to experience happiness, while feeling threatened can trigger fear. Common emotional triggers include an event, person, place, object, memory, or anything that stimulates the five senses.*Psychology Today (go back to my posts about trauma and inner healing to learn more about the brain and body dealing with the emotions/feelings).

Although feelings and emotions are closely related, it's crucial not to mix them up when expressing what is going on in your brain or body. I read a great simple explanation to help decipher the difference between feelings and emotions - "emotions are like the parents and feelings are like the children." One causes the reaction - even if at the same time they are still different.

we experience emotions and feel feelings.

At this point most people with children or grandchildren have watched the movie INSIDE OUT. It is only funny because each of us have experienced similar feelings and emotions as the main character Riley. Our brains are often doing a lot of talking, while our bodies are dealing with lots of feelings. They work together and often cause the same sensation inside of our bodies. Yet, emotions and feelings do not hold truth (facts) or have the final say in how we are going to behave, make choices, or live our lives. The enemy wants you to believe otherwise and that is why we must daily renew our minds with truth.

As you will see in my e-book HEALTHY HAPPY HABITS renewing your mind and healing your body is a daily choice. You are going to need to make a choice, to take a chance on changing your life. Staying the same only gets you the same exact results.

Whichever you choose, the results are in your control. Yes, God gave you a FREE will. He also gives you the GRACE needed to do what you must to achieve the goal you have set out to do. Not to mention to fulfill His purpose for your life and why He created you! Never lose hope on His plans for you.

EMOTION is ENERGY in MOTION.

EMOTION, 1. Emotions have three key elements, known as the subjective experience, the physiological response, and the behavioral response.

2. Emotion is three things—stimulus response to situations, ENDOCRINE METERING of the body to meet situations on an analytical level, and the inhibition or the furtherance of life force.

3. a manifestation, a condition of beingness which is the connector between thought and effort.

4. the intention to exert effort bridges into the body by emotion.

In other words, the physical-mental bridge is emotion. Fear, anger, hope, joy, frustration, excited, bored, sad, happy, etc. are all emotions that cause us to act and react.

Emotions like enthusiasm result in MOTION (Action) whilst emotions like boredom, fear, grief and apathy result in weak, little or no motion at all.

"Emotions are an integral aspect of the human experience, serving as the driving force behind our thoughts, behaviors, and interactions with the world. While some individuals may exhibit a more reserved demeanor, others wear their emotions on their sleeves, navigating life with heightened sensitivity and intensity. In this exploration of emotional people, we delve into the traits that characterize them, the challenges they may face, and strategies for embracing and expressing their emotions authentically." Rational effect of emotions, or irrational effect, will control the endocrine system.

What is the endocrine system?

The endocrine system (controlled by the hypothalamus) is a network of glands and organs that produce, store, and release hormones, which regulate various bodily functions such as metabolism, growth, reproduction, and mood. It works alongside the nervous system to maintain homeostasis (balance) in the body.

Key Glands of the Endocrine System:

  1. Hypothalamus – Connects the endocrine and nervous systems; controls the pituitary gland.

  2. Pituitary Gland – The "master gland" that regulates other endocrine glands and produces growth hormone, prolactin, and others.

  3. Thyroid Gland – Regulates metabolism, energy, and growth with hormones like thyroxine.

  4. Parathyroid Glands – Maintain calcium levels in the blood.

  5. Adrenal Glands – Produce stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline.

  6. Pancreas – Controls blood sugar levels with insulin and glucagon.

  7. Ovaries (in females) – Produce estrogen and progesterone, regulating reproductive functions.

  8. Testes (in males) – Produce testosterone, influencing male traits and reproduction.

The endocrine system plays a crucial role in overall health, and imbalances can lead to dis-ease in the brain and body.

Stress and excess load of toxins can bring about a disturbance of emotions that in turn will lead all the way to apathy/no motion (freeze/fawn trauma responses). One must consider not only the physical but also the mental and spiritual state of someone who is unable/willing to do much with life. Their state of being has been compromised by a variety of reasons, but when one finds their causes, a person can quickly regain emotions that result in forward MOTION - VICTORY over all that the enemy meant for evil - God will use for good!

In many cases those causes are hidden, and it takes a mentor, coach, therapist, medical professional to help that person find the roots causing dis-ease. No matter what is causing the dis-ease, never forget you have the ability and power within you to change it all! You simply must choose, to take a chance and create the changes you desire!
